“What happens when things don’t go as planned?”
…you do your best to keep your head above water and keep moving forward.
In the new book Through the Eyes of Hope: Love More, Worry Less and See God in the Midst of Your Adversity by Lacey Buchanan with Bethany Jett, young parents Lacey and Chris Buchanan find themselves battling for their tiny baby’s health while trying to keep their sanity, their marriage, and their lives…together.
This book, told by Lacey, shares the incredible real-life story of Lacey’s son, Christian, who was born without eyes and other physical challenges. From the moment Christian came into the world, Lacey and Chris had a new full-time job: advocates for their young son.
They are not the unnecessary ones in the world. God sent them here for a purpose” Lacey Buchanan
Christian is a brilliant, intelligent, curious little boy and instead of hiding him from the world, Lacey so generously chose to follow God’s prompting and share Christian with us.
When Lacey began chronicling their struggles and triumphs on social media she found overwhelming support–and overwhelming ridicule and hatred. This young mom became a champion for her child, advocating for his health care to obtain the best surgeons and appropriate surgery timeline, and to educate others about what it really means to be living with a disability. And she did this all while earning her legal degree.
Lacey, Christian, and their whole family are entirely inspiring. Throughout this book, I could feel her heart–her mother’s heart–wanting nothing but good health and a life full of love for her son. She’s a fighter, constantly contemplating what will be the very best course for Christian. Lacey taught us that in the fight of her life she learned the only place she could truly rest and find hope was in Christ, who never failed her.
Although I’ve not walked her path, her story is written in such a way that I can feel her challenges and her hope come off the pages as she describes them to us readers as if we were close friends.
I was blessed to receive an advance reader copy of this book and I wanted to share this with you. Many of you may face tall obstacles and belong to a club of challenges none of us signed up for. Lacey’s tenacity and love for her family is inspiring and once I started this book, I had a hard time putting it down until I reached the final page, and I found myself cheering for this little superhero and his family through every chapter.
If you too want to be blessed by Christian’s story of courage and hope, you can find Lacey’s book on Amazon.
