Encouragement, Healthy Relationships

Give Your Relationship a Love Nudge

FrontGate Media sent me a copy of The Five Love Languages. I use the LoveNudge app and my opinions and thoughts are honest and my own. I was not otherwise compensated for this post.

Do you use the reminders feature on your phone? I do. Every day. I remind myself what to get at the store, of an upcoming appointment, even if I want to remember to thaw the chicken in the morning for dinner that night.

Many of us use a similar feature or planner to keep us on track and our households running smoothly, our tasks completed at work, and so we don’t forget the important things.

Do you ever put your marriage on the reminders? I never thought of that, did you? We have an app for everything: all our social media, to track our calories, our steps, to help us choose outfits, but what about to encourage our marriages?

There is such an app! Can you believe it? My husband and I have been using it and we like it. Of course we text otherwise, but this is an app that we only use to communicate with each other, nobody else. We can set goals for our relationship and schedule reminders. But first, you take a fun and enlightening quiz to see what your love language is and what your partner’s is. Knowing this is really helpful in making your spouse feel special and appreciated.

For example, if your spouse’s love language is gifts of service then you can learn to “speak their language” by understanding that they feel most loved when you, for example, get their oil changed or wash the car or do a chore you know they don’t love. It’s really pretty cool.

The  Love Nudge is a free app that you can easily use right from your smart phone. It’s actually quite fun to set relationship goals, remind us of what we need to do in our relationship, enables you to surprise each other, send love nudges, and even text each other through the app. You only connect with your mate so it truly is a private app just for you and your significant other. It’s a prefect promise to make to each other for Valentine’s Day (or every day) to recommit to making your relationship stronger and being more intentional because let’s face it. We’re so busy that our relationships are sometimes the first things that fall down our priority list. This helps get it back on top.

Melanie, her new husband and her son.

If you know my story, you know that I was in a 15-year abusive marriage. I learned a lot from and since that relationship, and now that I’m happily remarried, it’s very important that my husband and I nurture our marriage and make big efforts to keep it on track. This app helps with that.

The app suggests different types of goals to set, like intimate time or one that I set: Distraction Free Listening. I’m on my phone too much and I know it. I want to set aside time with my husband and him only, without the distraction and temptation of my phone being nearby. The fun thing is, I set that goal before he did the quiz on the app. His love language is Quality Time. Perfect, right? He wants quality time and I want to give him time and ditch the phone. See why the LoveNudge App is so useful?
