I was given a copy of ‘Grit Don’t Quit’ to read and offer my honest review. All opinions are honest and my own. I was not otherwise compensated.
Have you ever been through something so difficult that it sent you to your knees? When my former husband tried to kill me then took his own life, I couldn’t do much of anything for days. I was in shock. I was traumatized and grieving, and I could only utter the prayer, “Help.” But I didn’t quit. My kids and my faith kept my from quitting. Giving up isn’t an option.
I had to get up every day and make decisions and continue to be a mother in the best way possible. Laying down and staying there was not an option. We had endured an incredible trauma and I was tired and every cell of my being had been rocked. But I could not quit. I had to choose to persevere. I had to be resilient. On days when I didn’t have the fight in me, I counted on God to fight for me. Truth be told, I was never fighting alone. He was right there in it all along. Grit Don’t Quit.
Don’t quit. Don’t give up. Giving up isn’t an option. But developing resilience and faith is. ‘Grit Don’t Quit’ is an important book that is the guide you need to get yourself back on a track that moves forward. It digs into the brain and why we think what we think and how to retrain our brains towards healthier thinking.

From the back cover of Grit Don’t Quit:
*learn to resist the lies we think our failures prove;
*discover how to build resilience and apply it to our daily lives;
*develop new thought patterns and behaviors that keep us from crumbling or quitting;
*disempower the triggers of comparison and helplessness by changing our perspective.
We make a thousand decisions every day. Some are almost undetectable like to have toast or cereal for breakfast. Others are big like parenting and business decisions. But every decision compels us forward to the next. It’s no footnote that our biggest decision in life is following Jesus.
It’s easy to get stuck in place. You can’t go back but you’re just uncertain how to move forward. Grit Don’t Quit is a guide book on how to become a resilient person, full of grit. Ready to get right back up when faced with a struggle or challenge.
Before I read a book, I like to peruse the chapter titles and see what piques my interest. Grit Don’t Quit has intriguing chapters like Resistance Breeds Resilience; What to Do in the Waiting; Depleted, Depressed, and Disillusioned; and Comparison is a Thief. Don’t those just make you want to dive right into the wisdom within these pages?
At the end of chapters is The Nitty Gritty, a section for Principles, Wisdom, and a Prayer. “Frustrations may seem inconsequential, but our responses to them create patterns in our brains.” (From Grit Don’t Quit, page 100). Whatever you’re facing now, please know that you are not alone. Do not quit. You may feel as if you have no strength left to keep going, but my friend, you do.
Our thoughts betray us and we can’t give in. As the book says: “We may deal with smaller issues and move on, but when a larger or more traumatic event occurs, the ways we’ve trained our brains with the small stuff determines how we’ll respond to bigger problems.”
This is such an helpful, incredible, faith-based book. Find out for yourself by digging in. Enter to win a copy of this incredible read!
