‘More for Mom’ Book Review

I was given a copy of More for Mom by BlogAbout in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. I was not otherwise compensated.

I’m a mom. It is hands down the best role I will ever be in. It’s also the hardest, most rewarding, most challenging, and sometimes, most exhausting. As moms we give of ourselves every single day in many aspects.

We give of ourselves physically in what we do, emotionally in the worry and care spent on our children, spiritually as we pray for and over them, and mentally. We are constantly giving as mothers.

Some of us are in the very beginnings of motherhood where our children need us every second of the day. Some of us are “older” moms and our children are teenagers or have flown the nest. We never stop being needed by our children. However, we do have other roles to fulfill.

Author Kristin Funston talks about exactly this in her new book More for Mom: Living Your Whole and Holy Life. From the back cover of her book:

More for Mom will help women:

Recognize what it looks like in the daily grind to be whole and holy.

Strategize and execute a plan for the mental games women play.

Understand the secret truth behind mom relationships and living up to expectations.

Come alive by taking the steps to make their dreams reality.

Learn how to execute spiritual disciplines such as fasting, prayer and prioritizing time for God.

Start living their already whole and holy life in Christ.

Kristin “draws out the road map for the adventure that hard-working mamas don’t just want but need.”

It’s hard to enjoy the behind-the-scenes of our own lives while we are looking out at the highlight reel of the rest of the world.

More for Mom is available on Amazon and is a great source of encouragement for moms in any season of life. It encourages us in our imperfections (we all have them and we all beat ourselves up over them, demanding perfection only from ourselves). It talks about pursuing our dreams and dealing with managing our time as well as living our lives to the full.

The author (from the cover) encourages women in a way that is relatable and practical with a healthy dose of humor. She is a member and employee of Hope Presbyterian Church and works as the Marriage and Family Coordinator and a leader in the women’s ministry. She is also a regular contributor to multiple blogs, including The Better Mom, City Moms Blog, TODAY Parenting, and Scary Mommy. Funston resides outside of Memphis with her husband and three daughters. She has a master’s degree in communication studies from New Mexico State University. You can find her on Facebook and Instagram.
