My 5 Favorite Apps to Make Life Easier

If you have a smart phone you probably have apps that you love that make your life easier in some way. (And if you have one or three chronic illnesses like I do, easy and convenient are the name of the game). I really appreciate things that streamline a task and I won’t hesitate to use a reputable app to advance that effort. Here are five of my favorite apps that help me in my writing, social media, and life in general:

Virgin Pulse: This app helps me track all things health and fitness from steps taken each day to logging my weight to adding challenges like parking a distance from the store, work, etc. so you add extra steps. It keeps me accountable for moving my body and helps me track my progress. It’s super easy to use.

My Fitness Pal: This is an app I’ve told you about in the past. If you’re trying to maintain a healthy or specific diet or even lose weight, this is an excellent tool. You can count calories by adding in what you eat at each meal plus snacks. You can manually enter the calories or look up foods and track water intake. It even has specific foods like a Taco Bell taco that they will break down by calories, protein, etc. You can enter your goals and it will tell you how many calories to consume daily to reach those goals.

Walmart: When I shop I like to get in and get out. The best part of the Walmart app is that while I’m in the store, I can look up exactly what I need and it will tell me what aisle and where on the shelf I can find that item. It eliminates the need to hunt through the store going up and down aisles trying to find a specific item. It’s almost like a store GPS for your shopping and it’s a big time saver.

Story Art: This is a fun, pretty app that allows you to edit photos, create short videos, and even add music. Story Art has loads of free options and some paid options as well. There are filters, templates, and a lot of fun elements to play with. Here is a simple collage I whipped up in about 30 seconds using my photos and a pretty Story Art template.

Over: I love Over. It’s an app that makes your photos fancy. It is so extensive that I haven’t even used all the features yet. There is a paid option which I have and enjoy. I got in on the Black Friday deal and purchased the full app for a year. Worth it. It’s also tremendously useful for making images like quotes that use words and graphics, not necessarily photos. You can add stock photos straight from the app and all sorts of cool graphics, fonts, and tons of fun elements. I tap on this app more than any other lately.

What apps do you utilize to make life a little easier for you? Share them in comments!

Embrace the day!
