Encouragement, Life Is Beautiful

Family Christian: Bringing the Holiday Home

(With the generous support of Family Christian, I’ve been able to find some beautiful items to adorn my home this Christmas season, expressing the true sense of CHRISTmas. All the items featured in this post were provided by Family Christian and my selection of these items and my opinion of them are pure, honest, and unbiased).

Who’s in the holiday spirit? Show of hands…anyone? I sure am. I have about 75% of my shopping yet to do but I’m unthwarted.

I refuse to panic.

I’m excited. I’m determined to embrace the season, it’s true Reason, and just enjoy every little bit of it.

Deciding not to allow the season to be stressful, I’ve decided instead to delight in it and savor all its elements.

The past few years, since moving into our new home, I’ve not decorated the house so much. I put up a few lights, a decoration here or there, and of course, our tree. While my heart is always in Christmas, I just viewed decorating as “one more thing on my to-do list.” This year though, I got excited about it.

Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about! ~Luke 2:15

Heading out to Family Christian, I was giddy like a child at–well–Christmas time. I explored every nook and cranny of each aisle filled with delicious eye candy, enticing books by talented authors, and exquisite decorations waiting to adorn my home.

These lovelies immediately caught my eye. These elegantly simple ornaments of silver made their way into my basket. They are so modestly priced at only $3.99 regularly ($2.39 on sale!!) and they’d make a delightfully fancy gift for a friend, mail carrier (I’m a mail carrier’s daughter so please don’t forgetful these faithful folks), pastor, Bible study pal, teacher, neighbor or anyone at all. Even if someone doesn’t share the Christian faith, I’m sure they’d appreciate an ornament that reads “peace.” These simple treasures were my favorite find and they currently dangle from my cupboard knobs, instead of from my tree.

This sparkling glitter tree claimed my little glass table as its home. The gold of the tree meshed perfectly with the gold on the table and it sparkles in the light. Tis the season for glitter and sparkle.

Any one of these treasures would make a beautiful contribution to your home or a sweet gift, even for yourself. This is the season to believe, to hope, to wonder. The goodness seems to seep out of people this time of year, like no other time. We remember who we are and Whose we are. We seem to be more acutely aware of ourselves and the needs of others. This is a time to embrace our differences and celebrate the uniqueness with which we were made.  As you go about your shopping and preparing for the coming celebration, remember the Reason for the holiday and invite others to celebrate with you. Not everyone is surrounded by loved ones and happy gatherings so perhaps you can envelope someone in the warmth of the holiday who may not otherwise experience it.

Be blessed and loved,
