‘His Only Son’ is in Theaters for Holy Week

From Angel Studios who brings us the incredible series The Chosen, and creator David Helling, ‘His Only Son’ is in theaters now. Helling used the GI Bill to attend film school and has worked for over five years to create this cinematically beautiful film. Down time through the COVID shutdown afforded him the extra space to perfect and polish this important movie made with a budget of less than half a million dollars. Most movies typically work with a budget of $50 million or more. God took the “very little” and turned it into something big and important.

The Easter theatrical release of His Only Son is the result of years and years of fervent prayer and is the first of many films to come. Next up is a film about Jacob, starting from the time of Abraham’s death. His Only Son is one of the most impactful Easter films in a generation.

His Only Son focuses on Abraham’s faithfulness to God in the face of the devastating notion he will sacrifice his son Isaac. The film begins as Abraham prepares to go to Moriah with Isaac, the unknowing sacrifice. The film goes back and forth through time as we travel with Abraham and Isaac and the troubles they encounter on their journey. Through memories, we see Isaac as an infant, the baby Abraham and Sarah prayed for but thought they’d never hold.

Abraham battles to wait on the Lord as he pleads for Him to change his mind about Isaac. We witness this painful fight through Abraham’s eyes.

Do not be afraid, Abraham. I am your shield.

Abraham has all the range of human emotions in this poignant film. You can see His Only Son in theaters now. Uniquely, you can help folks who can’t afford tickets to be able to see the film as well.
